"Hi, I'm Amelia and on behalf of Expert Village, I'll be talking to you about understanding the laws of hair color. Semi-permanent color is, you can use it to cover grey, and you can also use it to darken your hair. It's not going to lift your hair. You also won't get that line of demarkation at the roots like you do with permanent color. It will fade off within four to six weeks, sometimes a little bit less. And usually it comes with a dedicated developer that you have to mix in a certain ratio to manufacturer specifications, and then you apply it like you would your permanent color. It's great for blending grey. As far as covering grey, if you don't have a lot, then you'll be fine with that. So if you've only got like maybe, maybe twenty-five percent grey, then you can go with semi-permanent color. Now if you've been using semi-permanent for a while and you find that your roots are getting lighter and they're not, it's not holding, or after two or three shampoos you're losing a lot of the color, then you're going to have to move on to a permanent color because that means that your grey has gotten more so, and it's just not covering. So that means that you've probably moved up to the fifty or seventy-five percent range in your grey. So as we age we have to consider these different changes in our hair as far as making changes with our color as well. So, a woman of twenty could get away with semi-permanent, or a glaze, where as a woman of fifty would have to definitely have considered moving into the permanent range. And semi-permanent color is something that's great for younger people, it's also really good for amateurs, people who are just starting out with colors and they're just wanting to play and add some tones to their hair. Because it's not going to completely change your hair color, it's going to fade off. So in six or eight weeks you'll be able to do something different. "
