"Hi! This is Josiah Owen with Expert Village. We have about 15 or 16 caramels here. We're going to chop them into smaller pieces and put these to the side. As we chop them, get them out of the way. You just want to go ahead and chop these. It's the same reason we're chopping the peanuts and the chocolate is the fact that when we start to melt this down, it'll be a lot easier in smaller pieces. Imagine putting a big hunk of chocolate, the peanuts, and these full caramels in to cook. By the time some parts start to melt, other parts of it will start to burn. You want to go ahead cut these into smaller little pieces. When we heat them up, they'll melt evenly and we won't have any burnt candy filling. Get these last couple pieces and we're done. We're going to go ahead and dump these in the same bowl that are peanuts and chocolate are in, and then we'll get ready to melt this down. "
