How to Melt Chocolate for a White Cake Recipe

"Hi! My name is Kip and I'm here on behalf of Expert Village. Today we're making a white Christmas cake. We're going to boil 3/4 of a cup of water and then we'll add our butter. We're approaching a nice rolling boil, and now we need to add our butter. Let that melt. As the butter begins to soften, you can take a spatula and just slice into smaller pieces, or you can cube it up before you put it in. It doesn't take that long. 2 or 3 minutes and you've got her done. As soon as this melted and you have no more chunks of butter, we'll remove this from heat. The next step we'll take is add our chocolate bits. It look like our butter is completely melted, so again, remove from heat. In this case, we'll just off the fire. If you have an electric stove, then you're going to want to actually remove it physically. We're ready to add our chocolate bits. We're going to add a chocolate bar or melting white chocolate. You're just going to stir that in, again, with the heat removed, until it is smooth and melted. It doesn't take very long. You want to scrape the bottom good as well because it does tend to want to go down there. That should do it."
