" Hi! This is Zak with Expert Village, and today I’m going to talk to you about troubleshooting your printer and why it might not be connecting your system or why it doesn’t seem to be working. We’ve already checked to make sure that the printer’s power cable is plugged in and that’s really the first thing to look at, so we know it’s plugged in and it’s powered on but the system still doesn’t recognize our printer. So the next thing to check are your connection cables. This printer is a USB printer and so the cables just slide in and connect. This end seems to be connected fine but the other end is not connected to our computer so make sure that your cable is secured on both ends. Some printers, especially older printers that use parallel ports, have cables that snap in place and might screw in place as well. Make sure that everything is connected tightly and securely to ensure your printer is working with your system. Reasons your printer might of become disconnected from your system is that while moving your printer around your workspace, cables can become tugged and loosened from their connections. Other reasons are you might of unplugged a cable from your computer that you thought was something else but ended up being your printer. Children and animals running around your workspace could unplug your printer’s cable and also moving your computer around could cause the cable to become unplug from the back of the computer as well as from the back of the printer. Sometimes you might also notice that your USB cable is too short and we cover that in another in the series."
