"Hi! This is Zach with Expert Village and I am going to talk to you about double layer DVD's. Double layer DVD's are like normal DVD's but it is more like you have two disks instead of one but they are contained on a single disk. This holds twice as much data as a regular DVD; that's 8.5 gigabytes of space. Most main stream movies that have a lot of content on a single disk are most likely using double layer DVD's because it helps to reduce the manufacturing costs of shipping out multiple DVD's in a single set and it also helps reduce clutter around your own work space to have a single disk instead of 2 or 3 or 4. So we are going to insert this into our computer. So we are opening our disks in finder and there is an icon on the desktop that is labeled untitled DVD. From here you can control click on the DVD to bring up the context menu and click on get info. This brings up information about your DVD including the available capacity and what you would like to name this DVD. As you can see here the media capacity labeled is 7.96 gigabytes. "
