Summary: Why won't my external hard drive work? Learn how to troubleshoot your device in this free online video on external hard drives.
"Hi! This is Zach with Expert Village and today we are going to talk about trouble shooting your external hard drive. A common problem with external hard drives especially those that are used in situations where they are moved around a whole lot. You are taking from work and to home is that the hard drive inside can actually become loosened from its connection. This can cause your hard drive to maybe not read all the data properly and sometimes not even work. So you think this could be a problem, you can open your external hard drive casing and make sure all the connections are tight and secure. As you can see with our external hard drive, we've removed the screws and are now ready to open the casing to see if our hard drive is loosened from its connection. Here you can see it has obviously become disconnected and the easiest thing to do is just push it back in and make sure your connections are lined up properly and make sure it is in a nice tight secure fit. You don't want to push it in too hard because you might damage the connection pins. Just make sure it is in there secure and tight. "
