" Hi! I’m Mike with expertvillage.com, and today I’m going to talk about how to plug in a good old fashion phone cable into your modem in the back of your computer. As you can see on the back of our computer here, we’re going to use a G5 today. We’ve got our modem and network jacks directly next to each other. They’re both shaped pretty real in an identical fashion, but the phone line is a little different from the network. As you’ll see, I’ve got an example of each one here. The good old fashion pots or plain old telephone system is this guy over here, little thin cable. The network is this guy here which is actually quiet a bit wider because it’s carrying double as many wires. To hook up your phone cable, you want to go ahead and plug it in to the phone jack. Here is what not to do; this is exactly what not to do. You plug your phone cable into the network jack, you will never get an internet connection. You will never be able to dial on the modem because it’ll be looking for this guy rather than this guy. It just won’t work even though it plugs in and feels pretty snug and it seems like it works. Don’t do it that way. Plug it in the right spot and you’ll be able to dial up to your service provider like we’ve been doing for quiet a few many years now without any trouble."
