" What will happen sometimes with this particular model is that it’ll be in a standby mode so always be sure to check power button on the cable modem because it may not be a power button at all. Another thing that usually happens with folks when they can’t get internet is that there’s a service outage or basically a cable/television outage. The same goes with phone companies. Sometimes the phones are working the internet won’t. What will often happen is that you should have a blinking where it’s no longer synchronized with headquarters. It doesn’t know what to do; it can’t find who it’s suppose to talk to, how it’s suppose to get internet access and translate it to your computer. So what I’ve done is I’ve reset the modem here. You see that we’ve got a single blinking light, which may later pop up to a couple of blinking lights. But you notice it’s in a steady fashion. It’s not intermittent; it doesn’t represent data transmission or receiving anything. This usually means a service outage and you’ll call your internet provider whether it’s one of the cable companies or your telephone company."
