All Videos In The Series, "How to Add RAM to a Computer"
RAM is an acronym for Random Access Memory which means the ability for a computer to recall any piece of data regardless of its location on the hard drive in any given amount of time. The more RAM a computer has the more information can be recalled at one time. A good example of this is when you open a program. Your computer is using its RAM to recall the information stored on its hard drive needed to open the program. The more RAM the computer has the more programs can be running at the same time without slowing the processor speed.
In this short video clip series you will learn tips and information about how to determine if you require a RAM upgrade and where you can go to find the right type of memory needed for your particular computer. For the most part RAM can fit easily into any PC but it is important to know what size RAM to buy and if your computer has room for the new stick. This series walks you through this as well as shows you how it is done.
"Hi! I am Mike on behalf of Expert Village and in this segment I would like to talk about memory upgrades for your PC. The main reason you want to do this is you have probably been noticing that your PC is getting a little slow and memory is the one thing that you can use to make it perform better. It is a simple process and it is not expensive and there is going to be a good pay back for it. The first thing you might want to look at on your PC is to see how much memory you actually have in there. This is the Windows XP system, but you can basically right click on my computer and look at properties and in there it will you how much memory you have installed. This machine happens to have 512 megabytes, but that probably is not enough especially when you are running Internet Explorer and you are running Microsoft Word and other you know surfing the internet while doing other things, so you know memory is really going to make all those processes go a lot faster."
