"Hi, Mike Purdy once again for Expert Village and we're talking about Paint Shop Pro. From here we have certain effects that we can do to an image. Suppose we want to enhance it by changing the color balance of the picture. We can do that automatically, you can see what it would look like in the right hand pane here once we do the change, in this case, not much change. If we want to make it cooler, towards the blue. Let's say we just want to whiten up this background, that would achieve that. See how this is warmer, this is cooler? We can make this warmer or more orange in other words, this background. We can change it, go to cooler and give it more of a cool tone and when you click OK it gives it more of a cool tone, makes this a little more of a grey instead of a warm grey and this more of a white. We use the automatic select tool, click on the picture, and you can see how what it does is it outlines just the cat, outlines just the cat so that we can put an effect just on the cat. We can sharpen the cat up and we can do this many times, let's say we sharpen more, we're putting the effect just on the cat. And we go to selections and we can get rid of those selection lines and see that what we've done is just sharpened up the cat itself, does nothing to help the picture. But you see, there's no effect here, he's remained the same but the cat has these little jaggies from over sharpening. We can go to either edit, undo the last thing that we did and we can keep doing that or you can simply use your control-Z key to undo and keep going back and undoing so we essentially get the picture back to where it was before.
