"Hi! I’m Ross. Thanks for visiting expertvillage.com. What can we do with computer files? Let’s find out. In this clip, let’s talk about creating a shortcut. Shortcuts are great because you can place icons in different locations to get to that file. For instance, on the desktop here I want to place a shortcut to gardening. I’m going to right click, drag it to my desktop, and let up. One of the options is create shortcuts here, and that’s what I want to do. Note, that if I say move here it moves the file to the desktop; if I say copy it copies it here. I have a shortcut now, so when I click on this file it points to this file and opens it. It doesn’t matter what this name is. I can name it anything. I’m going to press F2 to rename it. Let me just say gardening. Enter. It doesn’t have a .txt or anything else on it. It doesn’t have to. This is a shortcut; a pointer to those files."
