"Hi! I’m Ross. Thanks for coming to expertvillage.com, let’s begin. Back ups. How important is your data? A simple question I always ask people is if you lost the file today would you care. If the answer is yes, then you need to somehow protect it. Just leaving it on your hard drive is no good. If something happens to the hard drive that data is gone. Even something as simple as someone doing a copy or a move, or something getting on the computer like a virus or something that runs through and deletes things. If your data is necessary then save it. What you can do…I’m going to My Computer here. This is where My Music, My Pictures, and My Videos are by default. You might have other data in there. Say there is a word document or how about you taxes, do you do your taxes? Well, you might have files out there for that. You can simply copy the file if you want, off to your external hard drive or to your USP thumb drive. You need to place it some place else. You can even take it and burn it to a CD."
