"Alright, welcome to the after effects training series here. We're talking about the basics of after effects 7. What we're talking about now is work spaces. What we are going to want to do in after effects there will probably be a lot different work spaces that you?re going to want to work with. Because, there's different layouts that will probably help for different projects. After effects already has some presets that you can choose from and right now I'm in the standard work space set up. The way after effects is set up right now is to be pretty fluid so if you kind of move your courser over these transitional lines between like the composition window and the project window, what you can do is pull those apart and rearrange and the windows surrounding will automatically readjust to allow for a resize say the composition window or time line in they stay sort of intact and connected to each other. What happens is when you?re in say the standard work space any changes that you work to this space will be automatically saved. So, let?s say that we changed our standard work space to look like this and we switched to the animation preset. Now, if we go back to the standard work space it basically reverts back to the way we had set it. So, you may wonder how to get back to an original setting that after effects had for standard. And, what you need to do is select the work space that you want to reset and then choose from the work space drop down menu and select reset standard. "Yes" we do want to discard our changes to this work space. Now, it's going to give us the original standard work space that after effects had for this standard work space. What you can do if you want to create a work space outside of these presets is just create a new work space and title it what ever you want. Now, that would be a new work space to choose from and this drop down menu. The new work space that you just created works the same way as all these other ones. So, get familiar with the work space, create some new ones and enjoy working in after effects."
