"Welcome back to the basics of after effects. This is Ryan with Made Productions in Austin. Again, we're talking about the basics of after effects. One of the things that will be helpful to you is the option that you have in after effects to replace footage or reload footage. Sometimes you may be working with a project and there is a a texture that your using for your background and you may want to replace that texture with another. Sometimes that texture might be in multiple compositions or in one composition and several instances. Instead of going to your composition and actually say deleting that footage and the pulling the texture in to replace it you might want to do instead is just replace the footage from the project. That will automatically update all the instances of that footage across your project in every composition and every layer that you've placed that particular Jpeg. So what we can say replace footage with file and then select the file that you want to replace the file from your project with and just hit open. That will automatically update in every project and every composition in of your project. There may also be other instances when you?re working with a texture and you made an adjustment in photo shop and you want that adjustment to show up in after effects. One way to make that happen is after you have saved your file in photo shop is to reload the footage in after effects. All you need to do is select your file in the project window or say multiple files, then say reload footage and the updated file that you save in photo show will automatically update in after effects."
