"Welcome back to the after effects basics training on Expert Village. Now we are going to be talking about importing footage in after effects. There are lots of different ways to do this. I'm going to talk you through a couple of them. One way is to select a project window and then right click or control on a Mac, select import file and then just select a file from the finder or browser that you wish to import into your after effects project. If you wanted to import just one file that is doable. You can also select multiple files and import all those at once and they all will show up separately here in the project window. You can also select a folder and then tell after effects to import that folder. When we do that after effects will actually create that folder with all of the files contained in the project window. The thing about after effects is that it references your files. So these brushed images that I've imported are not actually recreated they're only being reference from their original location. So, we will talk about this later but it's going to be really important to keep all your project assets organized in a very neat and orderly fashion so that after effects can find them easily. There also another way to import footage by selecting import file from the file pull down menu at the top of your screen. Just use any one of these methods whichever one most comfortable for you."
