"Hi, I’m Gary for Expert Village; let’s now see how to enter dates and times in our spreadsheet. The Excel program can recognize different formats for writing the date or the time. Some of the examples are; the full written out date, let’s say October 23rd and if we go ahead and put that in it will read it as the 23rd of October. If we put it in as 10-23, it will come up the same way, 23rd of October. If we go ahead and put in 10-23-07, and it will give us this format. Now in order to change the format we would have to go up first to select the cells or the entire column, let’s say in this case we’ll use this whole column as dates, then we’d have to go up top and click on format and then click on cells and we see that we have a selection here on the left called “date” and it gives us different options on how to show the date in our worksheets. So over, right now we see it’s selected as, as just the digits separated by the backslash and if we go down we can actually, let’s say that we want to select this option, actually write out the entire month, we’ll see that our entries will change and that anytime it says the number ten for October, now it is actually writing it out. So that’s how we change the look of the, of dates in our spreadsheet."
