"Hi! I'm Gary for Expert Village. We see here on the left we have our folders, one of them is a deleted items folder. This is where your mail from your in box once it is deleted, this is where they go. They are not permanent deleted from your computer until you choose to do so. So I am going to show you how to avoid accumulating e-mails into your deleted items folder. Because what can happen is a lot of times a deleted item folder can build up with all these unwanted e-mails taking up to delete emails from your in box and have them permanently deleted a lot of valuable hard drive space. So I am going to show you how to delete e-mails from your in box and have them permanently deleted without having them accumulate in the deleted items folder. The other thing I want to show you is how to turn off the delete items warning. We see here that this is my deleted items folder. I am going to press a delete key and we see that a warning comes up that says are you sure that you want to permanently delete the selected items? Here I am going to choose yes but we can also configure our Outlook to not show a warning message and just have the e-mails deleted right away. Let's start by seeing how we delete the e-mail and have it permanently deleted from our computer. It is as simple as selecting e-mail from our in box that we want to delete and holding down the shift key while pressing the delete button. We see now that our warning came up that says are you sure you want to permanently delete the selected item? That is because we are holding down the shift key when we hit the delete button. So I am going to choose yes over here and now I am going to show you how to turn off that warning. What we need to do is go up to our tools and then click on options. We are going to want to click on the other tab and we have advanced options against the general configuration. We will click on advanced options and we see that there is a setting over here on top that says warn before permanently deleting items. We are going to shut that off and now when we delete our items, we will not have to see the warning that will be permanently deleted from our computer. Keep in mind that once this is turned off and once you are holding on to the shift key to delete the items, it could be very easy to delete entire folders of e-mails by accident without any kind of warning. So be very careful once you are using this feature. It is a convenient short cut and it helps a lot as far as keeping our e-mail boxes or folders organized or on the other hand it could be pretty dangerous."
