on 6/26/2009 Hey Matt,

i dont know if I have an older version than you (GB 08, version 4.1.2) but when i go to preferences there is no export link. Also, I was wondering if there is any way I can email my songs to my friend so he can add drums and beats behind it? I can however share it to itunes like you said. Can i access it in the itunes folder? thank you.

"Hey everybody, my name is Matt and I am speaking to you on behalf of Expert Village. Alright, so you've created your song, you've added all of your tracks and mixed it down so it is sounding how you wanted it to. Now you are going to want to export your song to your hard disc. First thing you want to do is go up to garage band and select preferences and at the top you will see export. If you click there, it will take you to a screen. It says audio pod cast settings and by default it is set to spoken pod cast which is fine if you are creating a pod cast with just words on it but we are exporting to a song so we are going to want a little higher quality. So if you click there and click on higher quality, it is going to export it at a much more desirable bit rate. So go ahead and click okay, after you do that and go up to share and click export song to disc. Now you can give it a name and save it to wherever you want to. You can export to garage band folder and click save and that is going to take minute or so depending on the length of your song to create the mix down and export it. When that is done, you can go to your folder, music and garage band. There's my folder and if you scroll down, all you see there is my song, super awesome song and export it to a 4a format which is compatible with I-tunes. I am going to go ahead and open it with Quick Time Player. There's my song. Alternatively you can go up to share and instead of clicking export song to disc, you can select send song to I-Tunes and that will mix down your song and put it directly into your I-Tunes library.
