Using The Loop Editor In Garage Band

"Hey everybody, my name is Matt and I am speaking to you on behalf of Expert Village. Alright, so we've got a drum pattern and we've learned to edit it and loop it. Next thing I am going to teach you about is called the loop browser. You can access that by going down here and clicking on the little icon that looks like an eyeball and it will bring up the loop editor. What you can do with this is add loops to it so you can use later on in a song or you can use in a different song. To add a loop to it, all you have to do is click the loop or the region you want to add and drag it down here and you will be presented with this dialog. You need to give your loop a name. I am just going to name mine first drum loop and below that you will see type. You can leave this as loop. If you have a sound affect or something like that, you can choose one shot but if you leave it as loop, the loop is going to automatically conform to the tempo of the song. Below that you can choose scale, genre or mood descriptors to help you navigate to your loops more quickly and give them a better description. You are going to need to choose an instrument descriptor. I am going to choose all drums and just put it under kits for now and click create and the loop is added to the loop browser library. You can see I have all drums and kits selected. You can see over here it says first drum loop. This is my loop. To add it to the time line all you have to do is click and drag it back and you can put it anywhere you want, as many times as you want and drag it around just like we did in the last lesson with the regions. There are a lot of other types of loops in here that are pre-set that come with garage band, not just drums but different types of instruments. "
