"Hi. Welcome back. This is Glenn, Expert Village. How to Make a Professional Video. Boy, we've been through a lot so far: lighting, camera techniques, audio, and you went out and shot some stuff. Well you're at that point where you want to bring it into your computer. So let's take a look at how to do that. The main thing about bringing in audio and video to your computer is to, once again, make sure you have enough hard drive space; because video files are very large. And make sure, this is very important; make sure you have enough RAM. Whatever software you use, these principles will apply. First and foremost, we just basically need to bring a cable from our camera, or as you see here our video deck, into the computer. The most common is fire wire. And probably your video camera, or if you're fortunate enough to have a deck, has a fire wire output. Basically take the cable, plug it from one end to another and your computer should recognize it. If you don't, there's another way. There's USB 2. And it's basically the same thing: you bring a cable out of your camera into your computer. Check to make sure that your computer can handle those things, but most of them do. Once you plug this cable in to your computer, it's now just dependent on the software. In this case, I'm using iMovie- a very popular package that a lot of people use. And the video that I shot is coming from this deck. Once it's plugged in and I'm in iMovie, I essentially can control either the deck or software on the computer to play back our tape. So I am going to hit "play" here. And this is some videos that were shot, that show a scene exactly with those techniques I showed you. Get in the habit; just watch your video before you dump it in your computer. I say "dump". In other words, import this video into your computer. Watch it first. Take a look at what you shot. Because the one thing you don't want to do is start putting this stuff in that you don't need. Why? Because it's just going to eat up hard drive space. Take only the material that you need, that's going to tell the story that you set up with your storyboard. So in this case, I'm just going to take a look here. And in iMovie, I'm going to hit "import". When we come back, the next thing we're going to talk about is organizing these clips on the timeline."
