How to Storyboard a Video Shoot

"Hey, welcome back to Expert Village and how to make a professional video. We've talked a lot about a lot of things. The camera, lighting, audio, all kinds of things that make your video stand out. And there's one thing that a lot of people forget, planning. Do you know why Hollywood videos look so great, do you know why TV look so great, they spend hours pre-planning those shots, and so should you. Now that's where scripts and story boards come in. When do you need a script? I recommend a script if you're doing some kind of industrials, you have to hire actors, or you have to give somebody lines for them to do. It's very important to understand the script, so that when you choose those shots based on the script it fits. Storyboards are for a lot more complicated scenes. For example if you have a two camera shoot or you have an action shot that takes place in a lot of different areas, you may want to take pictures or even draw stick figures to explain to the crew or the people involved what you're planning to do. Why does it make it so easy, we'll partly when you get out and shoot on that day, you know there's no surprises. And secondly, which is what we're coming up with, when you actually start shooting within the camera, you can do some edits within the camera so that it makes your editing easier.
