on 11/20/2009 I beg to differ I have been building and servicing computers since the commodore 64 came out I have built so many computers and put so many computers on to networks that counting would be impossible the only thing I agree with is that pci is getting to be old but if you don't have agp or the new pci express you can get your self a good gaming pci video card like the one I listed below this card you can find from 40 to 80 dollars and would be a cheap way to upgrade an integrated video card. If you want to game and don't have an agp slot and don't want to buy a new system or your system is pretty new. I my self got this computer and was very surprised to find out I did not have an agp slot in it so my agp card is useless and I just bought this system 2.6ghz 512mb ram 160 gb harddrive space but I had to upgrade the onboard 8mb video to something so I went with the card I listed below a...

"Hi I'm James Adams I'm here on behalf of expertvillage.com and now we are going to go more in depth about PCI video cards. PCI sockets look like this. This is a sound card but the socket on that video card and the sound card that is PCI will look exactly the same it would have two holes right there. In this one it goes on the white connector on the motherboard like I showed before. To get a PCI video card it is not really that worth it because PCIs kind of a slow technology it has been around from over 10 years now. So if you get a PCI video card you are not going to get awesome performance or anything like that but it would help a old machine. I had a old ... 533 and I popped a PCI video card a old one and it worked and it worked and it actually speed up because on integrated video the CPU on the computer processing a lot of the video. So when you pop a PCI video card on it and disable the on board it would take all that load from the processor. Really the only time you want to put a PCI video card for example you want to have two monitors. If you have a on board video card like you know like the socket to connect the monitor right over the keyboard and mouse you could put a PCI card and you could connect the second monitor or also for example this is a PCI express card. It got two things for two monitors lets say that I wanted three or four I could put a PCI card in and that would give me a socket or two depending on the card. But, for the most part if your thinking about up grading a computer that has a PCI socket just do yourself a favor and don't and if you do decide to go for a PCI upgrade don't spend more then 20-30 bucks. Sometimes when you go to local computer shops and stuff they try to sell you PCI cards that are super old for $89 so just go on line and buy yourself something old that a old video card. You don't need anymore PCI that can't really handle that. I will almost say that a PCI cards that you see at Wal-Mart price like $80, $60, is to much just go on line the money is not worth it do it only if you absolutely have to or if you want to stick it out of a certain computer for a couple of years more. "
