"Hey everybody my names Matt and I'm speaking to you on behalf of Expert Village. Alright and another important aspect of digital imaging is lighting. You can create lights easily in Maya all you have to do is go up to create and go down to lights and click the light you want to create. You can create an ambient lights is kind of a soft light, I'm going to go ahead and delete that. You can create a directional light that's another big one. Directional light is going to, it doesn't matter where in the scene you place it, it's going to constantly shine down light in that direction. No matter where it is in a scene and if you hit the number seven on your key board that's going to make it so that you can kind of see how the light affects your objects as you can see as I rotate this around. On another type of light that's your going to want to use a lot is the spot light. I'm going to drag that out and a if you hold your mouse over the light and hold down the right mouse button and click, this lights called spotlight one and I'm going to click there. I can change a lot of the different aspects of the light, the color, the intensity, you can also change in the case of spotlight how big the cone is there. I'm going to make that a little bit bigger as you can see. And you can also turn on different light effects as well as shadows. I'm going to turn on a depth map shadow there so you can see what that looks like. And close that out when I hit the render button you can see it creates a light around the box there and you can see the shadow coming out from behind it."
