Summary: Insider tips for improving photos. Learn How to Apply the Blur Filter to an Image in photoshop in this free computer graphics software tutorial.
"Now that my image is open, I want to apply an effect to the top layer of my image and that effect is going to be something called a blur, a gauzien blur. The way we do that is first we make sure that the layer we want to apply the effect to is highlighted in our layer's palette and we go up to filter and we click on the option of blur and that opens up another menu and we're going to click on the gauzien blur. And now we have a little menu that opens up and we see that there are some settings here that we can change. We can change the what's called the radius of the blur as to how many pixels around it will effect and that will tell us how much of a blur will cover the entire image. So, right now it's set to 19 pixels and we can see that the image does have that blurred effect to it. What I'm going to do is I'm going to increase it a little bit. We'll bring it up to about let's say about 24 and that has caused a little bit more of a blur in the image. I'm going to hit okay and now we see that the entire image has the blur effect applied to it. What I want to do now is I want to take away the blurred effect to the entire image and I only want to apply it to, believe it or not, each of the freckles on the face. So, once we have applied the blur, I'm going to show you now how to take the effect and only apply it to certain areas of the image."
