"Hi, I'm John Carstarphen for Expert Village. Poser animates by using morphs or gradual changes in the model. Each of the models native to Poser have identical structures or hierarchies. Let's take a look at the hierarchy for this particular model. At the top of the hierarchy we have the universe which includes the lights, background, and so forth; and here is the ground. But, here is the figure that we are looking at now, his name is Simon, and when you twiddle down you'll see that Simon has a whole range of body parts and each one of these body parts is connected to other in a logical fashion. This is known as a hierarchy. The little eyeball next to the body part is a visibility selection. So you can turn off different parts of the body while you are working, while you are rendering, and so forth. So, you can see the hip is connected to the waist and that's to the abdomen, the chest and so forth. Then the head, you have the eyes parented to the head or as children to the head; then arms, thumbs, and so forth."
