Using Talk Designer to Create Poser Talking Characters

"JOHN CARSTARPHEN: Hi. This is John Carstarphen for Expert Village. The last method for adding sounds to our characters, animated lip-sync to our characters, is through a program called Talk Designer, and Talk Designer comes only in version 7 of Poser. It's not available in any other version of Poser and it's not available as a standalone product. So you just find the Talk Designer under the window, Talk Designer menu, and this menu opens up. And so we've added the different sound because we're using a different character. We've added a masculine sound for this. So let's play the sound back just so we can hear it. COMPUTER VOICEOVER: Let me try that again. I'm more masculine than that. JOHN CARSTARPHEN: Okay, so we will add the text to this and the text is just simply a drop down below the sound file. Okay, so we've added the text from that audio file and we want to make sure we're in English. Now we need to add a viseme map file. So, we're going to select the viseme file, and in this case we're using SimonG2 and we're going to select that. We set the beginning and end frames, and we're going to create a new animation layer. And this has some of the same features as Mimic in that you can determine the eye blink rate and you can do some of the emotional tweaks such as anger, disgust, fear, joy, sadness, surprise, et cetera.
