"Hi! I’m James Adams, I’m here with expertvillage.com, and now I’m going to talk about installing Windows XP on your new hard drive in case your main hard drive, which has Windows XP failed. Now that we’ve figured out the boot key we’re set to go. So now you’ve figured out which button to push to have the computer boot up from a CD, in this case it’s Windows XP. You selected CD ROM and now the computer’s booting off from the CD. It’ll give you a message saying, ‘detecting installation.’ It’ll be in the black screen then it’ll move on to this blue screen. You can see here at the bottom that it’s recognizing whatever hard drive you have on your computer, so all you can do at this point is just wait. Eventually you’re going to come to this screen and when you’re at this point it’ll say, Welcome to Windows XP blah, blah, blah to continue you push enter. In this case we’re setting up a brand new hard drive. Then it says F8 to agree. At this screen is the user license agreement, push F8 to agree. Then you’ll notice right there it’s my hard drive it says I only have one hard drive setup on this system and it says it’s unpartisan. That means it’s not formatted. The first thing you do is you push enter and then you select the file system. You’ll notice right there it says NTFS. That’s new technology file system is the best one to use. Then FAT is old, so if you have like Windows 98 or something like that you need FAT, but since we’re installing Windows XP, we’re going to stick with NTFS. So you click OK and now it’s going to proceed to format the disk. Now that the disk is formatted, it’ll examine the C-drive and it will continue. Then eventually it’s going to go into setup, it’s copying files. Once that happens from now on it’s automatic process. Eventually you need to be at the computer. Eventually a popup is going to appear it’s going to ask you for serial key and some stuff so basically just click next and OK and you’re going to be fine."
