"JOHN CARSTARPHEN: Hi, this is John Carstarphen for Expert Village. A better way to do this is to go to the Texture dialogue for this particular map and just change the length to 500%. And make sure that tile is deselected for this. We'll click OK. And then by using the Texture tool, we can move the map and place the map on the surface without any tiles. And having no tiles on your texture maps is important for the decalling that we're about to do. You can't have a tile texture and decals at the same time. The next texture we're going to add is this X-359. It's just a letter texture with an alpha channel. And all we did was we imported the original color map, decal, and then we copied this channel and we pasted the channel into the alpha channel, the alpha selection in this Material dialogue. And we want to make sure that we have Soft selected and Image Alpha. Without this selection, it won't know to actually cut out the alpha map. So we want to make sure Image Alpha is selected. And you can see that we now have just the letter showing up."
