  1. Step 1

Teach your dog to do all three positions on command. When your dog learns to do the stand command you can use it for many different situations such as when you are grooming your dog, when your dog is getting a vet check, when you need your dog to stay during bad weather and for various other situations. Stand stay is also great for taking pictures.

  2. Step 2

When you teach your dog obedience commands it's important to remember that if you always give your dog two commands in a row, your dog will start to do both commands. For instance, if you say "sit, down," "sit, down," your dog will start to do both commands when you say "sit."

  3. Step 3

When you teach the stand command you can now give the commands sit, down and stand in different orders. This will help your dog to learn each command instead of doing a pattern.
