"This is C.J. South representing expertvillage.com. In this clip, I am going to show you how you can modify your transitions. So once a transition is placed on a track, you may want to modify and you can. You can change the duration, you can change its alignment and you can place it with a different effect. Now for duration, you can change the duration of that particular transition as long as there is enough overlapping frames to accommodate your new duration. When you change the duration of a transition in the time line, the way that duration changes it depends on the alignment of the transition. So for example, make sure your selection tool is selected and come down here to this transition and you will see when my pointer gets to the edge, I get those arrows pointing to the side. I just click and hold and I can drag this transition. That will only let me drag it four frames because there's not enough room on the tape. There's not enough of the pre-footage, the handle. So let me grab this one and I'm going to drag it. This one goes longer because there is more to the tape. So as you can see as I drag it my bars are extending to the side letting me know how long it is going to be visually and then this little tool tip that pops up shows me exactly how much I am changing it. I am changing it now by one second and twenty-two frames. That's how much I extended it and now the new duration is two seconds and twenty-two frames and I let go, I now have a much longer transition. So now let's say you have one that is aligned differently. So this one, let me just go ahead and delete that, and I just drop one in here. This is now aligned, hold on, give me one second, move it over; okay cool, all right. So this is a different alignment. It's not a middle. This is more of an end alignment. It fades to black so if you want to extend this, you could grab one side or you could grab the other side depending on what you want to do. What happens is now just takes a little bit longer to get the black. So let me undo that. Okay, now if I slip it to the other side, now it is reversed. Now I can just drag this side to make that fade longer. So it all depends on the alignment. "
