"Hi! This is C.J. South representing expertvillage.com. In this clip, I am going to show you how you can insert and overwrite with transition. So by now you should be pretty familiar with inserting and overwriting clips into the time line but did you know that you can add them with transitions already built in. No, that's crazy C.J., that's crazy! It's not crazy, it is not!. I am going to show you. Go ahead and double click any clip in the browser whatever it may be, go ahead and just double click it and bring something up. Now click drag it over into the canvas and our overlay here pops up. Then you know you have seen this. You have insert and overwrite. Now to the right of those, you have insert with transition and overwrite with transition. So make sure your play head in your time line is right up next to the end of another clip and click drag from the viewer or to the canvas and let's drop into overwrite with transition. Hey, look at that! It added a cross dissolve automatically in between the clip that was already there and the clip that we just dropped in. That is fantastic. That saves you two or three steps if you wanted to add a transition there. You can also accomplish the same thing with insert except for it will shift everything over. So now move your play head away from a clip and go ahead and move from the viewer to the canvas and go to overwrite with transition again. Now you notice that it's a cross dissolve from black to your picture. So it is just basically a fade in. You can also accomplish the same thing with audio as well. Before I show you that though, let me show you the quick keys. You hit F9 for an insert. Now if you want to insert with a transition, you just hit shift F9 and if you want to overwrite with a transition, you do shift F10. Now the transition that is put in there is the default transition which is a cross dissolve right now. You can change that default transition and I will show you that later on. Again, it's also the default duration which is one second which you can also change. So now let's do twosome audio. Go into the browser, if you have an audio file, just go ahead and double click it or if you don't, just go to the time line and double click some audio from the time line and let me set an in and out point here right quick. Okay, bring your cursor to an area that you can see, your play head and then we are just going to go ahead and we are going to hit shift. I'm sorry, select the viewer and now hit shift and F10 to overwrite. There you go, now you see I just added a fade in between these two audio clips."
