Video Transcript

"This is C.J. South representing expertvillage.com. In this clip, I am going to give you an introduction to transitions. Okay, welcome to Volume 5. In this volume, we are going to cover all about transitions; how to put them into effect, how to change them, all the different types there are. There's a lot of stuff to cover but you will like the results once you've learned how to implement these effects of these transitions. So what is a transition? Well a transition is basically an effect that is used to change from one clip to the next. So if you remember we have the effects window next to your project window. Now the effects window, you have a variety of different choices here. Up at the top you have your favorites. You have video transitions and then you also have audio transitions. Then you have filter's, generators and audio filters. We are going to stick with the transitions. Then you twirl those down and now you have a list of different folders that have different transitions such as dissolves or Iris or MAC or Quick Time, slide or wipes. I also have a few extra third party filters which you can download. There are a lot of them for sale that are actually really really nice transitions. Some of the con types that are used are fades, cross dissolves and wipes. Fades will basically be fading from black to an image or from an image to black. Then a cross-dissolve is dissolving the images of two separate clips together over time and a wipe is have you ever seen really cheesy bad like 70's and 80's wedding videos, they have star wipes, ooh, star wipes and heart wipes. That's what a wipe is. Now you also have audio transitions and audio transitions allow you to fade between two audio clips. So if you want to make one song change into another but make it less noticeable that it is two different songs, you don't as abrupt, you would put an audio dissolve."
