"Hi! This is C.J. representing expertvillage.com. In this clip, I am going to show you how to use the ripple tool. So let's talk about the ripple tool now. The ripple tool is the fourth tool down in the tool pallet and it is right next to the roll tool. So really if you look at the similarities between the two, really the roll tool is just two of these ripple tool icons on top of each other. So go ahead and select the ripple tool which are on the keyboard as a quick key for you. Now this tool is really nice because it cuts out that step of deleting the black space. Like let's say you want to cut out this portion of a clip so you cut it and then you have to delete the clip and then delete the space to make it snap back to next of that clip. Or if you were going to use the selection tool, you would click and drag it to where you want it and then delete the space. Instead it gets rid of that step of deleting the space. Now you notice it has an x, the cursor, the cursor has an x at the bottom right just like the roll tool did which means you can't use it and you are not actually again able to select that clip. You are selecting the edge of the clips. Now if you notice as I switch in between each side, that little line coming out of my cursor here switches side as well. When it is on the right side, I am going to be affecting the right clip. When it's on the left side, I am affecting the left clip. Now watch what happens as I affect this right clip here. I click and drag and as you can see up top of the canvas again it now has a representation of two separate clips and I dragged it and down the time you see the clip actually shrinking. Okay, I get it to where I want. I want to cut it, let's see maybe about right there. Now watch what happens when I let go. It cuts the clip and instantly snaps it to the adjacent clip. So it just totally negates you having to delete any dead space in between. So again let me grab this left clip now and slide it, slide it and boom. It just snaps right in so it's a really really nice tool. "
