"Hi! This is C.J. South representing expertvillage.com. In this clip I am going to show you how you can insert for specific clips. You can search for specific clips using the find feature. Now I will talk to you about the find feature in Final Cut Pro. This is a great tool for finding individual clips that you would want to access that might be buried in just a huge sea of other media clips. This way you don't have to scroll through all the different folders or files to try to find the one you want. You can just search for it. Now the browser and the time line both have a search but they both work a little differently. So right now I am just going to cover the browser. So go ahead and click the browser and make sure it is active. Go up to edit and then come down to find or hit Apple f. Now the first criteria that we need to specify, just go ahead and click search. Now you have a choice between where to search. You can do a project, you can search the affects tab or all open projects. Right now we are just going to stick with projects, my project. Now what are you searching for right beneath it. All media, unused media or used media; all media searches just that, all the media in your browser. Unused media will specify and pick out each of the clips that you are not using in your time line. The used media does the exact opposite. It chooses all the clips that are being used in a time line. We are just going to do all media for right now and the results. Replace fine results or add fine results. Now once I click find all what is going to happen is it is going to pop up another window and that window will have the file inside of it and what this replace or add is if you are doing another find on top of that, do you want to add to that search or do you want to replace whatever is in there. Right now we'll just click add. Now at the bottom is where you specify the file name and what it's type is. Right now you can go by name, duration, start, log; it's a huge list so it is very powerful. You will have to play around with it. So let's go ahead to the right here and just type in the name. Let's do tape 2-1; that's over here in my browser. Obviously I can see it but we will find it. Now you can click the more button and you can set different criteria along with it but we are only stick with one. So just click less and get rid of those. Click find all. Here's our find results. Another window just popped up. It looked similar to the browser window. Here's tape 2-1. It is very important to remember whatever you change in the results window will affect the file in the browser window. So if you change the name here, it will affect it in the browser window. So don't just go around deleting or changing unless you know what you are doing. Now at the bottom of the window, is show in browser and remove from project. You can do both of those. You can either delete this or you can click remove from project and if I click show in browser, it then shows it in my browser. You have to select it first and then click show on browser and there it is."
