"Hi! This is C.J. South representing expertvillage.com. In this clip, I am going to talk to you about customizing your keyboard short cuts and how to utilize tool tips. Now let's talk about customizing your keyboard short cuts and utilizing tool tips. Well what are tool tips? Tool tips are the little bits of information that pop up when you mouse over a button. Like for example let's go over to the tool pallet. I mouse over any of these buttons and that's a tool tip that just popped. Selection tool, telling you what it's called and also has the keyboard short cut next which is A. You got on here all these other tool tips and the keyboard short cuts are S, B. Same for your viewer. You mouse over a button that says play. Tells you what to play; space bar. So it tells you what it is and then what the quick key to access it. It is really handy. Now you do know what keyboard short cuts are. It's all the nice short cuts that you can use to get your whole editing process run faster so you don't have to keep clicking; you can just use the keyboard. When you get good enough, you can actually edit entire pieces using just about all keyboard, just typing which is really nice especially if you have hand problems and with cramping using a mouse. So let me show you how you can customize your keyboard short cuts. Just hit option H or go up to tools and come on down to the keyboard layout and customize. Tools, keyboard, layout and customize or even like it says right here: Option H. So what is it that pops up here. Well this is a graphical view of your keyboard. So you have all the keyboard buttons here and they have little symbols on them explaining what they are. To the right here is a list of all your functions that you can move and place in here. Whether it is effects or other tools or if it is just straight up audio effects or even capturing. You can customize this for anything that you want. Now on the bottom left corner here, there is a little lock key. Now when that is locked, you can't change the keyboard short cuts. To change it you have to click that and unlock it. Just little safety features so if you are clicking around on here you don't drag stuff around and mess it up. If you do you can always hit reset or if you want to start from scratch you can just click clear Go ahead and unlock that. So now you notice too when you mouse over these keys it tells you what they are. Like the R key is my rollover, hey. Then you have the select track forward tool so it is nice visual representation kind of showing you what everything is and does. "
