"Hi! This is CJ South representing expertvillage.com, in this clip I’m going to show you how to make a short music video using markers. Now I’ll show you a real practical use for using markers and we’re going to make a short little music video here, we’re just going to mark our music with markers, we’re going to mark beats with our music and then we’re just going to bring video down into it so I’ll show you how easy it is to cut together like a music video on the beats of music using markers. So first thing you just bring in your audio track, whatever it is just lay it down in there and go ahead and lock the audio layer because remember we’re bringing video down and when we bring video down it’s going to want to put his own audio on top of our audio, so just by locking the layer you prevent it from putting any audio down there it’ll just be video. So now what we’re going to is going to use our ears a bit, we’re going to hit the play button and as we hear the beats we’re going to hit the M key for markers, so let’s go ahead and do that right now I’ll show you how it’s done…okay so as you can see I just went across and every time I heard a beat I wanted I just hit the M key. So now I have all these markers setup how do I utilize them and by the way if you noticed we set the markers in the timeline not on the music itself and that’s because when the music is locked you can’t shuttle through the markers and we really want to shuttle through the markers so we put it in the timeline instead so go home, hit the home key, take it right to the beginning of the project, let’s just open up a video and then hit the F10 key, what the F10 key does is it overwrites it, we don’t want to do insert which is F9 we want to overwrite. So go ahead and hit the F10 key, okay so now what we want to do is just make the first clip match our marker so just drag it to the marker, there we go and that’s what we’re going to be doing we’re going to be dropping in clips and fitting them in between markers, so hit the shift down key to go to that first marker, open up a new clip, hit F10 and you notice this clip is a bit longer than the marker I want it to stop at so all I have to do is just drag it to the marker I want to stop at and then I just hit the shift up key to go back to that and open up a new one, F10 make it longer to reach the next marker, go to the next marker, bring in the next shot, okay, extend that one out to the marker."
