" Hi this is CJ South representing expertvillage.com. In this clip I'm going to show you the batch capture feature in final cut pro. Now if you thought capture clip was pretty cool, then you are going to love batch capture. Batch capture is basically capture clip on steroids. We talk about control; I mean this is total control for you, over not just one tape but multiple tapes. Now the way that this works is the same way that you will normally capture a clip: you will set the in and out points, except for instead of hitting capture clip, you will hit log clip right next to it. So you have an in and out points step; I have already set one. Let's go ahead and hit log clip, and then again just log clip window comes up. You can see that final cut pro has just been automatically putting a number after every clip we capture. So we can keep it like that, that's fine, or you can change it, but then I can just hit okay. Then it will automatically log that clip. Now if you notice over here in your browser, you see the one that we just created is in the browser but it has a red line through it. That red line means that there is no media. It is basically just a empty shell cause you have not captured anything yet. All it is is just a casing for the footage. It's got the time code and the duration. So it is ready to capture, it just hasn't captured yet. So what you can do, you go to the clip you know and just go ahead and play and hit in point, out point, okay, and you can log that clip, okay again, and just log click windows comes up, and you can click okay. Now if you really want to streamline it, if you notice to the left here you got another one another one of these unconnected clips. If you really want to streamline this and just whiz through it and capture like crazy, to the right here, next to name, you have prompt. When that is checked it will always ask you what you want to name it. If you unchecked it, it will automatically just go ahead and put a number and it won't ask you. So I'm just going to let final cut pro to go ahead and put a number, and I'm going to start playing my footage and out points log clip, do a little bit more in, out point, log clip again. As you can see that prompt didn't come up in the name anymore. It just automatically added it to my browser. So now when you go ahead and you actually click capture batch, you are not clicking capture clip this time, you are clicking capture batch—and wow, capture clip is a huge tongue twister. "
