" Hi this is CJ South representing expertvillage.com. In this clip I'm going to show you the login tab inside the log and capture window. Now I will explain the log tab in a little bit more detail. Now there is a whole list of things that you can set to your clip, but really some are important and some are not. This top one, the log bin right here, this one is pretty important, but at the same time, it's not as if that makes any difference, since because when you open up a project and save it, when you go into log and capture, your log bin is already set to your project name, which is what you want it to be set to. So unless you didn't save, you don't need to worry about it. That is why we always save before we log and capture. Below that is the reel; this one is one of the important ones. This is the name of your tape. So I will call this tape golf outing 01. If you leave the name as just 001 all the time, which is a default, you are going to have a bunch of tapes that are just called 001, and final cut pro won't be able to tell the difference between them. So it is very important to name the reel. Now the name below, that you can't actually set a value for a name, you have to set it in description. So I will call this clip driving, and if you hit return or tab, now you see it came up in the name section. Now everything below the description is all pretty optional. Scene, shot, angle, and log notes: it is all really good things to use if you are using if you're capturing massive of amounts of footage, or if you are doing some type of feature film where we have many different shots. Now below that you have markers. You can set markers with this in the footage. Don't worry about that right now; I will cover that later on. Now again with the reel, let's say for example that you lose all your footage. Let me just give you a example of the importance of this. If your hard drive crashes that has your footage on it, and you lose all of it, by having your real name and your description set, final cut pro can actually determine how to recapture the footage. So you have an edit it in your timeline and you have no more footage, but what you can actually do is pop in the tape and final cut pro will go through that tape and recapture all the footage and redrop it into your timeline. So that way you don't have to re-edit everything. It saves you a ton of time. So it is always always important to be very specific on your reel and your description. "
