" This is C.J. South representing expertvillage.com. In this clip, I am going to talk about slow motion and fast motion. So how do you apply a slow motion or fast motion effect. Well it is actually quite simple and to start off just go down into your time line here and just put your play head over the clip that you want to change or click and highlight the clip you want to change. You can access the speed control a few different ways. The first way is to go to modify and then come down to speed, that will bring up the speed window. You can also just hit command J that also brings up the window and then you can also just right click the clip and choose speed. So now our window is up and you notice this first drop down menu here, the pop up you have constant speed and variable speed. We are going to leave it at constant because we don't want to do any type of ramp speed changing yet. I am just going to show you constant so leave it at constant. Now below that is duration and speed right below that. Now speed here anything above 100 like 150 is fast motion. It is going to make it go faster. Anything below a 100 like 60 is slow motion. It will make it go slower. Now what you can do is you notice now that your duration changed. When I changed my speed to say 50, my duration changes. So because it is slow motion it has to make it a longer clip now. Well you can actually change a duration to affect your speed. So let's say I want a duration of 8 seconds. Okay now, my speed is not changed to 62.5. These two ways that are related to each other and you can change your speed with both of these options. "
