"This is C.J. South representing expertvillage.com. In this clip I will show you how to navigate through audio in Final Cut Pro. So now let's learn how to navigate our audio. First off we need to bring audio in the time line. I already have some placed in but for you what you need to do is go to the browser and find an audio file and you can either just drag it straight in or you can double click it, bring it up in the viewer and then from the viewer here you see there is a little hand icon right next to the X. This hand looks like a little speaker coming out of it. You click, drag that and it brings it into the time line because you can't actually click and drag from this away form here like you can with video. So you have to drag this little icon in here and drop it in. My favorite is just normally taking it from the browser here and putting it in but that is only if you want the entire thing. If you want to specify a portion to bring in, then you go into the viewer first. Now before you start editing your own audio, you notice right now it is very blank and I really don't even know what the heck I am editing except if I have to hear it and cut it and then maybe hear it again and cut it some more. There are a couple of things you want to toggle to help you work with audio. The first one is the .WAV forms. Now if you have a slower computer, it might not be able to handle the audio .WAV forms on your time line. If it is relatively fast, you should not have any problem with it. There is two ways to bring it up; three if you include the quick key. Go to sequence, down to settings, go to the time line options tab and take that down to track display and toggle show audio .WAV forms. If you notice, it real time updates that in your time line. The second way is to go to the bottom left corner of the time line. There is this little arrow here and it is call the time line layout pop up. You click that and then you can go up to show audio .WAV forms, so click that. Now your audio .WAV forms are up. Another way to do it is the quick key and the quick key is option, command double U. All right, I am just deleting stuff all over the place. What's going on? All right, let me try that again here. Yeah, it brings it up. So you have your .WAV form open now."
