"This is C.J. South representing expertvillage.com. In this clip I will finish up my introduction to audio. The third goal is to minimize differences in tone and quality between audio clips that are in the same scene. All audio has some kind of background noise. It is often referred to as ambiance or room tone and sometimes you will find the audio from the different shots you are using in the same scene or same sequence, has differences in the background on ambiance. For example, let's say you are shooting outside and you are just having a conversation in a same, like maybe say a city park and the shoot last you know it just takes you all day. Now you are going to notice that some of the shots probably have more traffic noise in the background because of rush hour. Now assuming you don't want to rerecord a dialog for the whole scene, you will need to edit in some rush hour background noise into the clips that don't have any so that all of the clips sound the same within the same two minute scene. You know otherwise the traffic noise in the background will pop in and out from one shot to the next which will really distract viewers and call attention to the edits. So usually the shot with the highest ambiance background noise level dictates the ambiance noise level for the entire scene. So keep that in mind. Keep all three of those goals in mind. "
