"What's up? My name is Darin. On behalf of Extra Village I'm going to show you guys how to create a song using Reason. All right, so in this clip right here I have laid out the vocoder, which is pretty cool. There's two ways to use it: if you have a mic you can hook it up to your Reason program and use it, but since I don't have a mic I'm going to show you how we can use the vocoder to level out sounds. You can use it as an EQ: an equalizer. So say for instance I have the NNXT down, and it has this sound on it right here. Remember, in the NNXT, you can two different sounds, so on this one I have like two strings and then as the second sound I have a high hat cymbal with an echo from RV 7000 so it's "tch tch tch tch." And the strings will go on echoing as well. So let's say for instance if I hook up the vocoder to it. I have the vocoder hooked up to it right now. With this, it's already selected on vocoder. If we change it to equalizer, you can be able to hear it on there. We can change the bandwidth with it as well. I'm going ahead and switched it up to thirty two bandwidth. So it echoes right there; I can move these little bars on here, bend bars, I can switch these, I can bring some base up. And I want it to fade out like that. And you can change the sound of it. So, basically, you just got to mess with the sound. So you see how that sounds now. You mess with it like that, and you can also shift it as well. You can also mess with the dry and wet as well. So that's pretty cool if you want like a different sound. If you can't get the sound that you want from the envelope control filter or that reverb sound you can go with the vocoder which is also an equalizer and find that sound that you want: mess with the bars. Arrange anywhere from four band to eight band, sixteen band to thirty two band. So, you just mess with. It's pretty unique to use; I love using it."
