" What's up? My name's Darin on behalf of Expert Village. I'm going to show you guys how to create a song using Reason. In this clip right here I'm going to walk you through..the next couple of clips I'm going to show you all the synthesizers, the main sounds. This clip I'm going to show you guys the Subtractor. Alright so we have the Subtractor up, and there's varies of sounds in here: monosynths; polysynths; bass; strings; effects. Pretty much, it's pretty fun to use. If you have a Midi controller, it's good to go. All you have to do is select it. You'll know when you select it because the Midi icon will come up right next to it. Once you select it you will hear a sound. If you want to look for a sound, we'll go ahead and choose the browse folder right here. Once I have that sound down, it's able to play that sound on your Midi controller. So once we have that down, I'm going to show you guys a couple of cool things with the Subtractor it can do. The default things are like the octaves, and the filters, and the filter 2. The things that are pretty cool with this, say for instance, if I have the filter down it's low and filtered. If I have it up, it's hard. You can also add an Octave 2, which has two sounds. Change the octave up and you're able to switch that up. Once we have that, that's pretty much the Subtractor. You can also do a reverb on it. Another thing you can try the LFO 1. I'm going to go ahead and hit the sync in, put it on 1/4th, put the amount all the way up, select the second button and choose the F frequency, which allows it to sound like this. There's a lot of cool things in this. Just try messing with all these other sounds. You can also mess with the FM. It's just pretty cool. Mess with it. You can change the pitch blends and everything like that. So that's pretty much the Subtractor, right there."
