"Now that the computer has been formatted it’s actually ready to use. This is the point where you would actually install let’s say your Microsoft Office or you Adobe Photoshop or anything else that you would use, any type of application that you would use to make your computer work. Opening the CD-Rom and installing the software, making your choices, it’s actually a very good time when you are installing the software to make certain choices. A lot of times you can choose “customize the software” when you install something it might say “do you want to install everything on the software or DVD?” You might just say, no I just want to install the program. A lot of times when you buy a computer it comes with “bloat-ware” or tons of software that you don’t need. This would actually be a very good time because it’s a clean computer to only install the things that you want to use. Let’s say for instance you did all this work and the drivers didn’t work, the video didn’t work, the sound card didn’t work. This is a, the resource CD that has the device drivers on it. You would pop this disk in and follow the prompts on how to install the video card, the sound card, the modem or whatever the computer didn’t recognize. If you don’t have the CD, you can actually go online to a website, this one is Dell and download the device drivers for the computer. Hey thanks for watching Expert Village and I’m David Justin. Just to recap what we did, we formatted a hard drive. You can take an old computer like this and actually breathe new life into it by putting the operating system in and formatting the hard drive.
