Series Summary

Computers are complex machines built upon very simple principles. They perform arithmetical operations millions of times over to transform digital information, moving at lightning speed, into usable human data.

A personal computer's job is to help a user create, manipulate, deliver, receive, or delete media content. This is a simple, sterile definition that sounds uninteresting on the surface. Nevertheless, these fundamental functions mimic human ability in some surprising ways. Therefore, the computer is increasingly becoming an engine of the imagination, a platform for the digital life.

In this free guide to buying consumer electronics, learn how you can get your hands on a used pc, mac or laptop computer for cheap. If you’re on a budget, or if you’re just looking for an inexpensive desktop unit, watch these video clips and get tips on where to look for used computers, how to check the specs for software compatibility and minimum system requirements, and how to finally decide on which computer to buy. "On behalf of expertvillage.com, my name is Don with Friendly Computers and I am here to talk to you today about buying a used computer. Now in todays world, the prices of computers are dropping continuously and the speed at which technology advances, many times computers have almost become a throw away item. On the other hand there are a lot of people that will continue to use a computer 8 or 9 years in and still want to continue to keep it running. What's right for you? I don't know. You are the only one that can decide that. But if you do look for a used computer there are some things you need to look out for. The first thing you need to do is like with any computer purchase, you need to decide what kind of features and capabilities are the most important thing to you. Now we have people come in almost every week, several times looking for used computers. They are hard to come by, especially good ones. You have to remember if someone else doesn't want it, there is probably a reason. Now how technically capable are you? Are you one that can fix a simple problem or can you fix more complex problems. The more capable your technology abilities are, the more likely you can find a real bargain in the used computer world and there are a lot of bargains to be had. There are places like yard sales, second hand shops and even computer stores. Some times we don't want to take the time or put the investment in repairing the old machine but some times you can find one and pick them up pretty inexpensively. "
