"In self defense for kids strikes to the top of the head are a real possibility. When that attack comes of course you're going to need to get out of the way, off to the side just enough so their main energy is not on you. You're going to deflect it just enough to get out of the way. Then you're going to use your knee as a striking implement, you're going to go right to the side of their leg. That's going to help disrupt their energy giving you more time to escape. The attack comes toward the top of your head; you're going to; using your hands to deflect that. And again you're going to use your knee right there on the side of their thigh; giving you a place to escape. The attack comes, deflect and knee it in; o.k. Your turn. Right there in the side of the thigh. When you have an attack coming to the top of your head, you want to get off the line; you want to deflect the energy coming towards you and you're going to use your knee to help disrupt their balance, and give you more time to escape. The attack comes to the top of the head. She gets off the side, her knee comes into my thigh disrupting my balance; moving me and giving her time to escape from an overhead strike."
