"Hi! My name is Leslie and I am from Tampa, Florida and on behalf of Expert Village, this is all about the PTA. Chapter 04: As a PTA member what would I be expected to do? Your level of involvement is up to you but here are some of the main things that the PTA will expect from you. Help with fund raisers. Many PTA's raise money throughout the year for projects and improvements at the school. A local PTA might throw a bake sale or car wash to raise money for art supplies, scholarships, computers or field trips. A group might raise money to put a soda machine in the teachers lounge or bring a guest speaker to school. You will likely be called on to help out or contribute. Your opinions, your voice is important to help shape the goals of our local PTA. Feel free to address any concerns you have at meetings. Commitment, you will get the most out of your PTA membership by staying involved. Meetings are usually scheduled in the evenings. If you can't make the meetings, see about getting minutes and try to make it to fund raisers and other PTA events. Although you will probably always be asked to help with fund raising efforts. Your involvement is ultimately up to you. It is important to keep in mind that a meaningful contribution to PTA project does not have to be time consuming. You can sign up to do the monthly newsletter or just volunteer one weekend afternoon to help out with a car wash fund raiser. Even if you don't have time to volunteer, you can help out with supplies or donate service space for the PTA website. There are a thousands of ways to help. "
