Video Transcript

"Hi! My name is Leslie and I am from Tampa, Florida and on behalf of Expert Village, this is all about the PTA. Chapter 01 What is the PTA? The PTA or the Parent Teacher Association is commonly used to describe all parent groups whether or not they are actually affiliated with the PTA. Parents, teachers and even administrators are frequently confused or unaware of the differences between PTA and other parent organizations. PTA is the nations original parent's group in schools influencing parents to get involved in their children's education. The PTA is a national non-profit organization. Neither the organization nor its leaders receive any financial benefit from PTA activities. The PTA is a grass root organization that brings parents and teachers together so they can work towards improving the lives and education of students. Over 6.5 million people belong to PTA nationwide making it the largest Child Advocacy Volunteers Association. Simply put the PTA is a group of adults both men and women both affiliated with the school that has organized to help children thrive and learn whether that means it's fun raising for school supplies, educating parents, helping teachers or fighting for legislation to ensure that every child gets a high quality education. They are run by volunteers and led by volunteers and are accountable to parents and schools. The PTA gives parents a way to help their children succeed. "
