"Hi there! I'm Liz Hood on behalf of Expert Village and right now I am going to be talking about getting a very safe used crib. Now, cribs are usually about in the price range of $300.00 to about $500.00 so if you can buy a used crib that's a very good deal usually. One thing that you should definitely make sure of is that it's actually safe because if the cirb is not safe it doesn't matter how cheap it is, it's not a good deal. First off you just need to look at it over all. Make sure that it has no missing screws or brackets or anything like that, it has everything that it came with, that there is no ragged or splintered areas that the baby can hurt themselves on. Also, that there is no cracked or peeling paint. You should also make sure that the paint is not lead. It's very very important for any crib that is over ten years old to make sure of. Another thing is that you need to look at the head board and the foot board, make sure that there is no cut outs big enough for the head, for the baby to fit their head through or fit their leg through or anything. And one thing that they tell us now is to make sure that the crib slats are no more than two and three eighth inches and these come in at about two inches so this crib is perfectly safe. Another thing to make sure of is that the corner posts don't come up more than one eighth of an inch. That is so that the baby can't, when they start standing, they can't get their clothing caught on it and kind of hang themselves on it. Also, just make sure that there is no slats that are loose or missing. Another thing to make sure of is that when the mattress is put inside the crib that you have no more than two fingers space so that the baby can't roll over and get caught between the slats and the mattress. So this mattress is perfect."
