"Hi, I'm Liz Hood on behalf of Expert Village and right now I am going to be talking about sleeping area safety. Now, once you have your crib, you have found your perfect crib that is perfectly safe according to the most recent modern safetly guidelines, you need to figure out exactly where to put it to where it's safe. One thing that you need to keep in mind is what is right next to the crib. Now, anything that's within ten inches the baby can reach their arm out trying to grab so, also if you have any sort of dressers or anything right next to the crib the baby can eventually climb out and get on top of it. I have a friend, a very close friend that had that happen to them, thankfully nobody was hurt but to just not even risk that I would put any other furniture on the other side of the room if possible. Another thing that you need to keep in mind is that very pretty quilts like this go ahead and not put in the cirb with the baby. What you can do, and I haven't done this yet, is sew some loops on to it and they sell some nice quilt hangers and just kind of us it as a quilt decoration on the wall, that looks really nice. Also, mobiles, once the baby can reach the mobile you need to go ahead and take it down and bumper pads like this are not actually necessary. So, they are saying now that it's a suffocation hazard. My baby was fine with that but if you want to follow things to the T that is what they are saying these days. All you need to have in the actual crib itself is just a very well fitted sheet, and no blankets, no stuffed animals, nothing like that. Another thing that you need to be aware of is to not place your crib next to windows. If you absolutley must make sure that the blind cords are wrapped up near the top of the window so the baby can't grab on to those. Those are actually a choking hazard so make sure that your baby can't get a hold of those."
